Welcome to Vintage Snips and Clips.
I have loved, and
taken advantage of, the generosity of many who have shared vintage and
antique public domain images (images where the copyright has expired or
were created before there was a copyright) that they have taken the time
to scan, sometimes even clean up the images, and upload to the
Internet. I myself have a few sources of vintage, public domain books and such,
and thought I'd get around to sharing these as others have shared with
me.
I hope you will enjoy them. Use them however you want, there are no restrictions.
I
have noticed that some people who share public domain pictures try to
put conditions on how they are to be used, something that is
contradictory to what the definition of Public Domain is. Legally one
cannot put restrictions or conditions on public domain works (however,
public domain works can be used to create New works and the new works
can be copyrighted. And therefor I put no conditions on how the public domain images I post here can be
used. Do whatever you want with them (this applies to those who live in
the United States, if you live elsewhere you should familiarize yourself
with your countries copyright laws...most countries have similar laws,
but they can vary). They can be used for both personal and commercial
use.
The words I write here on this blog (unless otherwise noted) are my own, however, and are protected by copyright.
On occasion I may share works created with public domain images but made into something new...as they are new works they are copyrighted and are not to be used by you. Please respect the copyrighted works of others.
If you have questions about Public Domain works and Copyright here are a few sources I recommend.

The wreath image on this page is from the cover of Ethics of Success: Book One by William M. Thayer. The book I scanned it from has a copyright date of 1909, and thus is now in the public domain. The image is very messy as it was converted from a scan of cloth cover book. But make use of it if you desire, cleaning it up or whatever you wish.
